The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style has donated more than $35,000 to three local nonprofits, organizers announced Friday.
The funds, raised through the festival’s May 18 event and related activities, will be split among ALIVE!, Community Lodgings, and the National Breast Center Foundation. Burke & Herbert Bank served as the presenting sponsor.
The sixth annual festival drew an estimated 40,000 spectators to lower King Street and Market Square, where more than 120 exotic and vintage vehicles were on display. The free event featured a fashion show pairing clothing styles with themed automobiles, along with live music and sponsor exhibits.
Revenue came from the festival itself, a formal gala called the High-Octane Ball held the night before, corporate sponsorships, and registration fees from car owners.
“The Old Town Festival of Speed & Style has always been about doing something special for Alexandria,” said Rick Myllenbeck, the festival’s founder and chairman. “This includes sharing beautiful cars and fashion with everyone, bringing interest to Alexandria — and foot traffic to Old Town — and raising funds for these charities.”
Jennifer Ayers, executive director of ALIVE!, called the event “a powerful reminder of how coming together as a community can spark action, inspire generosity, and help our city thrive.”
Lynn Thomas, executive director of Community Lodgings, said the contribution represents “an investment in our mission, our community, and the people we serve.”
Since its inception, the festival has raised more than $175,000 for local charities. A team of more than 20 volunteers, including vintage car collectors and enthusiasts, produces the annual event.
The seventh annual festival is scheduled for May 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on King Street, near the waterfront and around Market Square. The event is free and will take place rain or shine.
