The auteur confirmed the news on 31 March at CinemaCon<\/a>, showing up towards the end of the Sony Pictures presentation to reveal further details. The logline for all four projects reads: \u201cEach man has his own story, but together they are legendary.\u201d To that end, these will be four interconnected biopics, one from each band member\u2019s point of view. The exact order in which the films will be released is not yet known, though all four will hit the big screen in April 2028, in what the director describes as the first \u201cbingeable moment in cinema\u201d. (Think of it as Barbenheimer times two.)<\/p>\n

Doing the writing honours will be three veterans \u2013 Tony winner Jez Butterworth; recent Oscar recipient for Conclave<\/em>, Peter Straughan; and Adolescence<\/em>\u2019s double Emmy winner Jack Thorne \u2013 but it\u2019s unclear which film each is taking on.<\/p>\n

Calling The Beatles \u201cthe most significant band of all time\u201d, one which \u201credefined the culture and stayed with you for a lifetime\u201d, Mendes added that he had \u201cbeen trying to do a film for years, but I finally gave up\u201d because he felt the \u201cstory was too big for one film\u201d and a TV series didn\u2019t seem quite right. \u201cThere had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation,\u201d he continued. \u201cI can assure you there is still plenty left to explore and I think we found a way to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, we have yet another update: per Deadline<\/em><\/a>, the four boys will be joined by four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan, as Linda McCartney, Paul\u2019s first wife. We can safely assume that the pioneering photographer and musician, who married the Beatle in 1969, will feature prominently in the Paul-centric film, though it\u2019s not yet known how much screen time she\u2019ll have in the three other projects.
