It\u2019s yet another reminder of Ophelia\u2019s drowning, though the use of lifebuoys here references Taylor\u2019s metaphorical rescue from the same tragic fate. After that, Taylor reappears with a sparkly blue tinsel feather boa of sorts, which matches the style of the jackets she and her dancers wore for the Eras Tour<\/em> finale.<\/p>\n

The full showgirl<\/h2>\n

In the next scene, we see a clapperboard with the title Sequins are Forever<\/em> \u2013 a play on \u201cDiamonds Are Forever\u201d or Marilyn\u2019s \u201cDiamonds Are a Girl\u2019s Best Friend\u201d \u2013 plus, \u201cfeaturing Kitty Finlay\u201d. Kitty is the name of the character at the centre of the song \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d, and Taylor\u2019s dearly departed grandmother, Marjorie Finlay, about whom she wrote the song \u201cMarjorie\u201d, was an opera singer, another kind of showgirl, if you will. The board also says \u201cTake 100\u201d \u2013 a reference to the line \u201ckeep it 100\u201d in \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d, as well as the fact that Taylor\u2019s lucky number, 13, and Travis\u2019s jersey number, 87, adds up to 100. As Taylor said on New Heights<\/em>, \u201cThat\u2019s numerology\u201d.<\/p>\n

When we next see Taylor, she has dark, Elizabeth Taylor-esque hair and violet eyeshadow. (Elizabeth Taylor famously had violet-tinged eyes, and on the album\u2019s second song, \u201cElizabeth Taylor\u201d, Swift sings, \u201cI\u2019d cry my eyes violet\u201d.) On a chalkboard behind Taylor, you can see the abbreviated titles of songs from The Life of a Showgirl<\/em> and their corresponding numbers (\u201c7. AR\u201d, particularly prominent, is track seven, \u201cActually Romantic\u201d), as well as a Sequins are Forever<\/em> poster featuring Taylor and bearing the names of Sabrina Carpenter, Max Martin and Shellback.<\/p>\n

In the video\u2019s final scene, Taylor wears a fuzzy coat, similar to her Eras Tour<\/em> look while performing \u201cLavender Haze\u201d, and moves forward through bursts of confetti, another nod to her final on-stage performance. Above her head glows an \u201cExit\u201d sign, indicating her exit from that tour and into a new era.
