After years of loyal service \u2013 hanging off her shoulder through entire sets from Alexandra Palace to Governors Ball, giving the impression she\u2019d simply wandered up from the bathroom and found herself in front of a mic \u2013 PinkPantheress has finally retired her shoulder bag. \u201cI can\u2019t perform with a bag anymore, babe,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m doing a bit more dancing and movement now, and for a headline slot, it\u2019s just not happening unless it\u2019s a quick PR event.\u201d This is, for those who\u2019ve followed the musician since her early days, no small change. \u201cI\u2019m maturing,\u201d she adds. \u201cThere\u2019s a side of me that wants to pivot into something more elegant. In general, I\u2019m not really a \u2018dresser-upper\u2019. A lot of pop stars wear amazing pieces even at home, but I don\u2019t know if that\u2019s ever been me.\u201d<\/p>\n While her signature style \u2013 a nostalgic ode to Y2K dressing with wrap cardigans, leggings and that familiar going-out formula of \u2018jeans and a nice top\u2019 \u2013 is distinct and celebrated among her fandom, she\u2019s learning about fashion with a capital F as she goes. \u201cWhen I got into music, I knew nothing. Once I started doing fashion week, I decided I had to get at least a little bit clued up,\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019ve never been to a Balenciaga show before and we\u2019ve been told nothing \u2013 no location, no concept \u2013 so I\u2019m even more gagged to see it.\u201d That excitement, though, comes with nerves. \u201cEverything about these events plays on your ego.
