Hi, to everyone overwhelmed by fashion news at the moment and especially everyone who is watching all of the designer debuts play out in Paris on their last energy reserves, after a massive fashion month. I\u2019m coming to you from the car on my way upstate for some much needed R&R, but before I log off: Kim Bekker made her proper debut as the sole artistic director of Isabel Marant last night, after working alongside Marant for years on the design team. <\/p>\n
Bekker is deeply familiar with the brand, so no one was worried about whether or not she would be up to the task of replacing Marant\u2019s 30-year tenure at the helm of her namesake brand. What came out on the runway last night was indeed quintessential Isabel Marant: the perfect bohemian French cool girl that Marant spearheaded all those years ago, wearing drill cotton cargo pants, surplus shorts, flirty blouses, oversized effortless coats, floaty dresses, et al. <\/p>\n
It was sickeningly good. All nomadic, on the road, in the sun, cooler-than-ever woman on the go. I have always had a soft spot for Marant, even in the wedge sneaker boot era which is still TBD on its comeback, and Bekker affirmed last night that the brand is in perfectly safe hands as she runs the show.<\/p>\n

In other news on the female creative director front, Silvia Venturini Fendi is exiting her role as creative director of the Fendi brand. She has overseen menswear and accessories since 1994 and stepped in to lead womenswear after Kim Jones\u2019 departure last October. A third-generation member of the Fendi family, Venturini Fendi will reprise a new role as honorary president of the Roman house, marking an end of a chapter and leaving an opening for a new creative director to be part of Fendi\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Timberland And Telfar Collaborate On A New Collection<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n

In fashion collab news, iconic American heritage brand Timberland and buzzy fashion brand Telfar just announced a line of boots and bags. The Telfar Shopper bag gets a Timberland touch in a thick nubuck leather, and the two brands are releasing a brand-new Slouchy bag silhouette. Also part of the collaboration: an over-the-knee boot that’s meant to slouch, scrunch, drape, and fold over, and a mid pull-on boot that’s being described as “Hip-hop x R&B in boot form.” The partnership is another step in securing Timberland\u2019s influence in the downtown fashion scene, while helping Telfar reach a larger global audience.
