\u201cI wanted to talk about dating because it\u2019s such a hot topic, but I didn\u2019t think it was this hot of a topic,\u201d Weempe said. \u201cI\u2019m interviewing people and showing people\u2019s genuine side. You catch them mid-walk, shirt off, very authentic\u2026in the wild and it\u2019s raw.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

And it\u2019s that authenticity Weempe believes viewers are attracted to in a seemingly overly-saturated era of dating shows filled with people who may be looking for love but are almost certainly looking to gain social media fame.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Featuring everyday people with everyday jobs who simply want to go on a date, and maybe even make it to a second date, has proven to be endearing to many.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

It\u2019s also created space for people to make connections.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

A few months ago, 24-year-old Peter Fisher was running on the Katy Trail with his dog when Weempe asked if he\u2019d be interested in doing an interview.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cI had just moved to Dallas, didn\u2019t have a lot of friends and initially wanted no part of it,\u201d Fisher said. \u201cI just kept going and said, \u2018No, thank you. Have a good day.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

But mid-run, Fisher said he had a change of heart and went back to do the interview.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cI think it was, like, an act of God,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Fisher\u2019s interview about his dating life got more than 147,000 plays on TikTok and a slew of comments, including one flirtatious comment from a young woman named Payton \u2014 who is now Fisher\u2019s girlfriend.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cWe have been together for almost two months now, and I am so in love,\u201d Fisher said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

Weempe said it\u2019s become commonplace for her interview subjects to go on dates with people who reach out to them following their exposure on her channel.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cThey get hundreds of [direct messages], especially guys,\u201d Weempe said<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

When asked if she considers herself somewhat of a matchmaker, Weempe admits that she sees it \u201cin a way\u201d but is adamant that her focus is on interviewing people, and she wants people to connect and figure it out on their own.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cPeople are hungry for in-person communication, so with these interviews, I hope to show people\u2026approach people. Take the risk. Don\u2019t be scared. Just take the risk and do it, make a conversation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
