{"id":4674,"date":"2025-09-30T17:34:22","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T17:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thegloss.online\/?p=4674"},"modified":"2025-09-30T17:34:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T17:34:22","slug":"old-town-festival-of-speed-style-raises-35000-for-alexandria-charities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thegloss.online\/?p=4674","title":{"rendered":"Old Town Festival of Speed &#038; Style raises $35,000 for Alexandria charities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.festivalofspeedandstyle.com\/\">Old Town Festival of Speed &amp; Style<\/a> has donated more than $35,000 to three local nonprofits, organizers announced Friday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The funds, raised through the festival\u2019s May 18 event and related activities, will be split among <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.alive-inc.org\/\">ALIVE!<\/a>, <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/communitylodgings.org\/\">Community Lodgings<\/a>, and the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nationalbreastcenterfoundation.org\/\">National Breast Center Foundation<\/a>. Burke &amp; Herbert Bank served as the presenting sponsor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The sixth annual festival drew an estimated 40,000 spectators to lower King Street and Market Square, where more than 120 exotic and vintage vehicles were on display. The free event featured a fashion show pairing clothing styles with themed automobiles, along with live music and sponsor exhibits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Revenue came from the festival itself, a formal gala called the High-Octane Ball held the night before, corporate sponsorships, and registration fees from car owners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">\u201cThe Old Town Festival of Speed &amp; Style has always been about doing something special for Alexandria,\u201d said Rick Myllenbeck, the festival\u2019s founder and chairman. \u201cThis includes sharing beautiful cars and fashion with everyone, bringing interest to Alexandria \u2014 and foot traffic to Old Town \u2014 and raising funds for these charities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Jennifer Ayers, executive director of ALIVE!, called the event \u201ca powerful reminder of how coming together as a community can spark action, inspire generosity, and help our city thrive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Lynn Thomas, executive director of Community Lodgings, said the contribution represents \u201can investment in our mission, our community, and the people we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">Since its inception, the festival has raised more than $175,000 for local charities. A team of more than 20 volunteers, including vintage car collectors and enthusiasts, produces the annual event.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-normal break-words\">The seventh annual festival is scheduled for May 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on King Street, near the waterfront and around Market Square.
