They are wearing red hats resembling those worn by supporters of President Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d movement. A Mexican flag and a third figure dressed in a serape have been placed nearby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis is my political statement,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cOur community lives in fear right now \u2014 people are dropping enrollment in the schools, the restaurants are low. The community, everybody is scared right now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Neighbors have had mixed reactions to the display, with some supporting Rodriguez\u2019s right to free expression and others criticizing the imagery. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cI\u2019ve had good and bad controversy on it. Some people talk real good about it; some people talk real bad. But what I tell them is by no means am I threatening nobody,\u201d Rodriguez said. \u201cI like practicing my First Amendment rights\u2026 This isn\u2019t a threat towards no agency or no officers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Despite the controversy, Rodriguez says he\u2019s not afraid to shake things up to make sure his message hits home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cThis ain\u2019t the first time I\u2019ve done it. I\u2019ve done Halloween decorations for 20 years. I\u2019m not directing no hate to nobody. It was just something I decided to do for Halloween, and right when Halloween\u2019s over, I\u2019ll take it down,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Houston Police say no one has complained about Rodriguez\u2019s display, and even if they did, he is not violating any laws.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\"><i>Copyright 2025 KPRC via CNN Newsource.
