\u201cI have this constant urge to be perfect,\u201d Demi Moore\u2019s character in Gucci\u2019s new short film, The Tiger,<\/em> muses, her voice wavering\u2014though that is likely due to her intoxicated state. \u201cTo look perfect, wear the perfect clothes.\u201d She does so while wearing a sequined floral gown\u2014Gucci, of course\u2014with puffed sleeves, a full skirt, and a high neck, upon which rests a necklace of not so subtle gemstones, as she sits at the lavishly set table in the dining room of a grand Los Angeles home. The line is one of many zingers throughout the production that calls into question this idea of perfection and, more specifically, its role in fashion.<\/p>\n In tandem with the release of La Famiglia, Demna\u2019s debut collection as artistic director of Gucci<\/u>, the storied Italian fashion house released a short film directed by Oscar winner Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn. (Gucci premiered the film at the beginning of Milan Fashion Week, and it is now available to stream via its website<\/u><\/a>.) The film\u2019s cast is packed with Hollywood\u2019s brightest stars. Demi Moore plays Barbara Gucci, head of Gucci International\u2014and chairman of recently acquired California\u2014and mother to Colin (Edward Norton), Braxton (Elliot Page), and Monica (Keke Palmer). The family\u2019s shiny facade is on display for an esteemed writer, played by Ed Harris, to document and craft yet another award-winning story about their ultimate perfection. Cracks were already starting to show in the chiseled exterior\u2014and then Monica adds a little something to the champagne. And sequin-bedecked madness ensues. <\/p>\n Throughout it all, Demna\u2019s new collection is front and center, adorning both the characters and strategically placed models, including Alex Consani and Kendall Jenner. Moore begins the day in a striking red coat with oversize double-G buttons and a glittering brooch nearly the size of her head. As the night progresses, dinner guests road-test additional Spring 2026 looks, including Monica\u2019s bubblegum-pink sheer gown printed with Gucci\u2019s double-G monogram and trimmed with ostrich feathers. And what would a fashion film be without a closet try-on scene? In this one, Moore cycles through a number of new collection favorites\u2014even exclaiming about the pockets of one gown in her drugged haze. <\/p>\n The result of said haze leads to a number of poignant observations about life, money, love, and purpose, culminating in an important question: What would you do in the room with a tiger? Fight back or let it devour you? The whole thing is ridiculous, tender, chilling, superfluous, surrealist, realistic, and ironic all at once\u2014and it feels very Demna. His clothes, whether designed for Gucci, Balenciaga, or Vetements, lean heavily into irony, mixing the beautiful with the ugly to make us rethink our ideas of luxury. His throughline has always been that he\u2019s in on the joke, finding holes in perfect pretenses while simultaneously dressing the elite at which he pokes fun.
